Hole #1 – Par 4 – 280 yards
The first hole at Grand Prairie is a par 4 with 2 different tee boxes. It is the longest hole playing 291 yards from the left tee box and 280 from the right. This straight away hole looks innocent enough, but trees down the right side tend to catch a lot of golf balls. The better golfer might choose an iron off the tee to get in a good position for an easy second shot, but most golfers just pull out the driver and try to drive the green.
Hole #2 – Par 3 – 145 yards
The second hole at Grand Prairie is a challenging par 3 playing 145 yards. There is a valley between the tee and green making it difficult for most players to hit the green on their first shot. Any shot short of the green has a tendency to roll back down the hill, leaving the golfer with a difficult uphill second shot. Beware of the Out of Bounds down the left side and choose enough club to fly the ball to the green.
Hole #3 – Par 3 – 159 yards
The third hole at Grand Prairie is a flat par 3 playing 159 yards. Out of Bounds is surprisingly close down the left side. Club selection is important on this hole because any shot over the green will roll down the hill into trees and possibly Out of Bounds. This is one hole where you are better off leaving your shot short of the green. You’ll have a chance to roll onto the green, but if not, you’re still left with an easy chip.
Hole #4 – Par 4 – 261 yards
The fourth hole at Grand Prairie is a dogleg left Par 4 playing 261yards. A bunker guards the left side of the fairway. The best play is to hit straight away off the tee through the narrow chute about 200 yards. This will leave an easy second shot. If you are comfortable curving the ball from right to left, you might try to drive the green, but be careful – anything over the green will go down the valley leaving a difficult second shot.
Hole #5 – Par 3 – 180 yards
The fifth hole at Grand Prairie is our longest par 3. It plays 180 yards from the back tee. Although straight away, it is slightly uphill and requires an accurate shot between two large trees on either side of the fairway. The green is large and receptive, but any shots over the green will roll down a hill into trees.
Hole #6 – Par 3 – 119 yards
The sixth hole at Grand Prairie is our shortest par 3 playing 119 yards. Guarded by a bunker on the right side, it is also one of our prettiest holes. The left side of the fairway slopes sharply down into some trees. Accuracy is a must on this hole to avoid the bunker and/or the slope. A good iron shot here is usually rewarded with a birdie chance.
Hole #7 – Par 4 – 287 yards
The seventh hole at Grand Prairie is our third and final par 4. It seems pretty innocent at 287 yards but offers many challenges. The hole doglegs to the right after hitting across a valley. This bodes well for the right-hander who slices, but any shot not hit far enough leaves a sidehill or uphill second shot usually to a blind pin. Plan your strategy appropriately on this hole and you could be rewarded with a birdie or par.
Hole #8 – Par 3 – 152 yards
The eighth hole at Grand Prairie is a 152 yard par 3. A straightaway hole, the green is partially hidden by the gently rolling fairway making club selection a bit difficult. Be careful of the out-of-bounds down the right side of the fairway – it’s closer than it looks. The green has the most slope of any at Grand Prairie, and certain pin positions can lead to challenging putts.
Hole #9 – Par 3 – 127 yards
The ninth hole at Grand Prairie is a 127 yard par 3. This is your last chance for a good score. A fairly straightforward hole, the green is very receptive to shots both from the air and those that run up to the hole. There is out-of-bounds down the right side of the fairway, but there is still room for an errant shot. Hit your ball on the green, two-putt for your par and go home happy!
